Hopkins Elementary School educates the whole child. We provide curriculum with a strong focus on core academic skills while also developing social competencies, self management, and life skills. We know and believe that each student must be challenged on an individual level and we set high, but reasonable, expectations for all of our students.
At Hopkins we believe in the importance of home to school collaboration. A high level of parent involvement in a child's education directly impacts student achievement as well as contributing to a positive school culture. A strong partnership with our families is part of what makes Hopkins Elementary School a Great Place for ALL kids.

J. Clyde Hopkins Elementary School has been a Sherwood landmark for over fifty years. Hopkins has seen many changes over the years and continues to provide an excellent education for our students. Students receive Music, Physical Education and Library Media/Computer classes each week. Hopkins also offers a variety clubs for students including the Hopkins Hummers Choir, Chess, World Changers and Hawk’s Eye, to name a few. World Changers Club focuses on need of students and families around the globe and what can be done at Hopkins to help those in need. Our Hawk’s Eye Club members learn how to make videos and produce a DVD yearbook which documents school year activities. Classrooms are equipped with technology that augments student learning. We have classrooms equipped with SMART Boards and a classroom piloting the effectiveness of students using iPod Touch equipment to increase literacy skills. Hopkins is a Positive Behavior Supports school (PBS) and students learn the importance of following the 3-B’s: BE SAFE, BE RESPECTFUL, and BE RESPONSIBLE. Our students are very proud to earn Hawk High Fives for following the 3-B’s.
