Assistive Technology Resources

What is assistive technology? The simplest definition in an education context is that assistive technology is any tool that allows children to access their education. Traditional examples of assistive technology include calculators, spell checkers, and colored lenses for reading. However, as mobile electronics are becoming increasingly adaptive, these still relatively new devices are being tapped more and more as the tool of choice for aiding children with their educational needs.

The resources that follow are intended to offer an overview of the different types of electronic tools that are available for use as assistive technology, and, in the case of the blogs, an overview of special education news and assistive technology news. These quick links are not an exhaustive guide, but will provide a starting point for making decisions and identifying tools that may be useful.
