Sherwood parent and active school volunteer, Jessica Adamson, was selected by the Board of Directors Wednesday evening to fill the vacancy created by Kevin Noreen’s resignation.  Adamson was appointed and sworn in at the end of the Board's meeting; her term is effective November 14, 2012 through June 30, 2015.

A Sherwood resident for eight years, Adamson has three children who attend Sherwood High School and Archer Glen Elementary.  She has volunteered with the Sherwood Band Booster Club and Sherwood Care for Kids Committee, in addition to working with school PACs and at various other activities.

Adamson is a senior associate at CFM Strategic Communications and was formerly the Chief of Staff for a Co-Speaker of the Oregon House.  She also served on the District's Budget Committee from 2007-2009 and again in 2011-2012.  In her application, Adamson notes that her professional experience has given her, "insight into how to develop policy and budgets in a collaborative fashion ensuring that all stakeholders' views are heard and addressed.”

“Jessica has been intimately involved in Sherwood Schools for the last eight years in everything from the bond campaign, to the budget committee and a key volunteer to many schools activities as well. Her experience in the political process at the state level will also be an asset to our team in dealing our continuing financial challenges. We are very excited to have Jessica as a new member of our board,” said Board Chair Andy Pihl.

Two applicants were interviewed by the Board for the position: Adamson and Andy Jensen, a Sherwood parent and enterprise architect for Portland General Electric.

The Board continues to seek candidates for three vacancies on the Budget Committee.  More information can be found on the District's website, and applications are due by 3:30 p.m. on November 19, 2012.
