First-year honor students at Eastern Oregon University have nominated 26 educators from Oregon, Washington, California, and Nevada to receive Inspirational Teacher Awards.  Sherwood High School teacher Russell Panter was a recipient of one of the awards, after being nominated by former student Jessica Bertalotto.

Students who maintained Dean’s List standing during the fall term at Eastern Oregon University were given the opportunity to nominate a teacher who influenced them on their road to higher education and academic excellence.  Jessica Bertalotto, a 2015 graduate of Sherwood High School, nominated teacher Russell Panter to receive an Inspirational Teacher Award.  Panter is a member of the English staff at Sherwood High School.  Principal Ken Bell stated, “Mr. Panter does a fantastic job of creating a classroom that engages learners through a variety of methods.  From his role play of literary characters, to his changing of accent mid-sentence, Mr. Panter finds a way to reach all students.”

EOU presents the Inspirational Teacher Awards annually in recognition of outstanding high school teachers who encourage and represent the importance of higher education to their students.
