Open Enrollment

The Sherwood School District Board of Directors voted Wednesday, February 12th to opt out of open enrollment under House Bill 3681 for Sherwood schools.

School districts must decide by March 1st of each year whether or not to open their schools to open enrollment and announce a decision prior to March 1 of each year.  For the 2014-15 school year, Sherwood students may still opt to open enroll in other districts who have opened their schools under this law between March 1st and April 1st.

If students wish to enroll in Sherwood Schools they may follow the traditional method of requesting inter-district transfers.  That method includes an annual application that must be approved by superintendents of the sending and receiving districts.  Under this system, Sherwood approves dozens of students each year to enroll in Sherwood Schools who live outside of our district boundaries and also approves Sherwood students to enroll in other districts.
