Adam Mitchell, Dean of Students and math teacher at Laurel Ridge Middle School, will become its new Associate Principal/Instructional Coach.  Since January 2015, Mitchell served as an interim, full-time Dean of Students as a result of staff changes in Sherwood School District.  After the District conducted a search for the best candidate to step in for the permanent position, Mitchell emerged as the most qualified candidate.  "I am honored and excited for the opportunity to continue to serve the community of Laurel Ridge Middle School and the Sherwood School District in this new role," said Mitchell.

Adam Mitchell earned his Bachelor Degree in Speech Communication at Oregon State University and his Masters of Arts Degree in Teaching at Pacific University.  After four years teaching math full-time at the middle level in Nevada and Oregon, he joined Sherwood School District in 2009 as a math/science teacher at Laurel Ridge.  After a two-year absence to teach at an international school in Singapore from 2012-2014, Mitchell returned to Laurel Ridge in the fall of 2014, continuing his teaching while taking on the Dean of Students role.

Laurel Ridge Principal Penny Salm welcomed Mr. Mitchell to his new position, saying, “Adam is high energy and puts kids first. This is one of many reasons he rose to the top of a strong candidate pool of nearly 30 applicants.  I am excited to work alongside him.”
