Sherwood School District is pleased to announce that head football coach Greg Lawrence has been named Oregon Football Coach of the Year by the Oregon Athletic Coaches Association.  Coach Lawrence is in his 20th year as the head football coach at Sherwood High School.  The Bowmen currently sport a 6-0 record and are ranked #1 in the Oregon 5A classification.

The OACA Coach of the Year award is selected based on high standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct and moral character.
Coach Lawrence will now compete against other state winners from Washington, Montana, Idaho, Alaska, and Wyoming for the sectional award.  Sectional winners become nominees for National High School Federation Coach of the Year award.

In addition, Coach Lawrence was recently voted as Oregon’s Best High School Football Coach by a USA Today High School Sports fan vote.  Coach Lawrence will now compete against winners from the other 49 states and the District of Columbia for National Best High School Football Coach and a chance to win $2000 for the Sherwood Athletic Department.

“Sherwood High School is so thankful for the leadership that Greg Lawrence provides our football program and our entire school,” said Ken Bell, Principal at SHS.  “The success of our football program is a direct reflection of the servant attitude that Coach Lawrence models for our students.”
