After a near 20-year career with Sherwood School District, Edy Ridge Elementary’s principal, Frank Luzaich, has accepted the principal position at Molalla Elementary, the largest elementary school in the Molalla River School District.

Mr. Luzaich began his career with Sherwood at Archer Glen Elementary in 1996, where he served as third and fifth grade teacher until 2007.  From 2007-2009, he moved from the classroom to a Dean of Students and Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) role.  Luzaich became the principal at Edy Ridge Elementary in 2008.  Edy Ridge has consistently maintained a Level 5 rating by the state, the highest rating given to schools in Oregon.  “It is always difficult to lose a member of the Sherwood School District family.  We are grateful for the years of service and heart that Mr. Luzaich has given Sherwood staff and students, and we wish him the best of luck in this exciting new chapter of his career,” said Superintendent Heather Cordie.

The career move for Mr. Luzaich is one of personal and professional timing, and an eagerness to support another district during its time of growth.  “It’s a natural time for change with my daughter graduating this year, and having seen my first kindergartners at Edy through the fifth grade this year.  Molalla reminds me of Sherwood at the time I began my career.  Their story is parallel in that their community is following a familiar path of long-range planning and the challenges that come with steady growth, and I am thrilled to join them during this exciting time,” Luzaich said.

The Sherwood School District will be posting the principal position during the week of May 26.  The District’s hiring process will engage stakeholders and be collaborative in nature.
