Boundary Adjustment Committee Open House, December 9th

Sherwood School District is currently experiencing school enrollment numbers that are not in balance -- some schools are at or over capacity, while others are considerably under.  Projections are for slow, steady growth in enrollment, but there are other factors that may affect the numbers in the future.  We are committed to ensuring more consistent class sizes across the District, providing more equitable resources and support for staff from building to building, and sustaining our desired level of quality education for our students.  In order to achieve these goals, a Boundary Adjustment Committee (BAC) was created and has been working over the past several weeks to develop options of possible boundaries for the future.

These options will be presented at a public forum for viewing and continued discussion next month.  You are invited to participate in this Open House on December 9, at 6:30 p.m. at Middleton Elementary School.  This will be your opportunity to learn about the draft boundary options and to provide valuable input to the Boundary Adjustment Committee.

This community forum is one of the important steps in the process, as it provides transparency and engages the collaborative input of diverse stakeholders, which is very important to the Board of Directors and District administration.  The final decision on boundary adjustments will not be made until March 2015, when the Board has carefully reviewed the final recommendations from the committee, as refined after incorporating feedback from December’s Open House.

In the meantime, you are welcome to visit our web page any time to stay up to date on the boundary adjustment process:
