The Board of Directors approved the 2012-13 District Calendar in their meeting on May 8, 2012.

Please note the following key points for consideration in the development of the calendar, as well as key dates, changes and rationale.

Key points for consideration in calendar development:

·         Equalize as closely as possible the number of student contact days per trimester.

·         Preserve uninterrupted weeks.

·         Differentiate to accommodate the priorities between elementary and secondary.

·         Align Spring Break with Oregon University System Spring Break

Key dates, changes and rationale for 2012-13:

·         10/26: Conferences for grades 6 – 12; elementary students in class.

Necessity for secondary conferences early enough in the trimester to communicate with parents and allow time for students to recoup

grades.  This conference date is too early for elementary to garner enough information on students to have meaningful conversations.

·         12/6, 12/7: Elementary conferences.

First trimester progress reports are the basis of these conferences.  Secondary students in class.

·         1/25: Secondary conference day.

By scheduling one conference day in October rather than the customary two days we were able to allot one conference day to this

month affording another avenue of communication to parents.

·         4/25:  Elementary conferences.  Secondary students in class.

(This affords an additional day of student in class time for middle school students.)

·         4/26:  Elementary and secondary conferences.  No students in class.
